A primary thoroughfare in east Dorset is scheduled for temporary closure to facilitate the extraction of a tree lodged beneath a road bridge. The uprooted tree is currently positioned under Longham Bridge, which spans the River Stour at Longham, in the vicinity of Ferndown. Dorset Council has stated that the A348 Ringwood Road requires closure for the tree’s removal, citing potential structural damage to the Grade II listed bridge if the obstruction remains. The road closure is projected for Tuesday, occurring between 10:00 and 14:00 GMT. The council confirmed that traffic will be redirected via the A341, passing through Bear Cross, and the A347, through Parley Cross. Motorists are advised to allocate additional time for their journeys, consider alternative routes, or postpone their travel plans.
