Wolverhampton Council has given its approval for plans to demolish a dilapidated former industrial estate, paving the way for the construction of an apartment block. This development project involves replacing existing units on Drayton Street, situated across from Graiseley Park, with a new four-storey building containing 43 flats. Additionally, the plans include the creation of a shop, a gym, a swimming pool for residents, and an underground car park with 37 spaces. The industrial units currently occupying the site comprise a training centre, a bathroom showroom, and Nadeem House, a building that is partially demolished and fire-damaged. According to the Local democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), council planners stated that this initiative is expected to enhance the appearance of the currently vacant and derelict site, while also increasing housing availability in the Graiseley and Blakenhall areas. A report further indicated: “The redevelopment of this site will provide a positive contribution to the area.“The proposed redevelopment of this site will also contribute towards the council’s housing targets, providing housing in a sustainable location.” A statement from planning agent Thorne Architecture, submitted as part of the application by Nadeem Ahmad of Northern Gas Heating, noted: “The site is bordered to the west, north and east by industrial and commercial property which is under-utilised.“It is apparent that the nature of the area is set to change over the coming years due to ongoing decline and the redevelopment of sites for residential use.” Post navigation Property Management Firm FirstPort Questioned by MPs Over Service Charge Allegations Community Group Secures Lease for Historic Victoria Hall, Averting Closure
