Andrew RT Davies retains Welsh Conservative leadership after close confidence vote

He assumed leadership of the party group following his predecessor Nick Bourne’s loss of his seat in 2011. Stephen Crabb, a former Welsh Secretary, has proposed that a refresh might be necessary prior to the next Senedd election in 2026. This follows a weekend poll indicating the Conservatives were in fourth place in Wales, trailing Plaid Cymru, Reform, and Labour.
