BBC Scotland’s chief sportswriter, Tom English, addressed inquiries regarding Ross County. An anonymous question posed how manager Don Cowie could resolve the team’s goal-scoring deficit, given their generally strong defensive displays, and whether the scarcity of chance creation would inevitably lead County into another relegation struggle. English responded affirmatively to the second part of the question. He highlighted the “stark” statistics: “Ten goals scored in 13 games. No goal in the last three. Six league games where they’ve not scored.” He also noted that “Ronan Hale was a very good signing, but he needs help.” Furthermore, the team has scored only “one goal” in away matches. English pointed out a detrimental pattern of “conceding late goals home and away,” citing “Three conceded beyond the 90th minute, another in the 88th minute, another in the 84th minute.” He observed that these instances have resulted in lost points, creating a “double whammy,” and that the club’s “Points-per-game wise, you’re on a very similar trajectory to last season.” English expressed his belief that Hearts would “get out of trouble fairly soon,” and despite Hibs being “awful,” he suspected “they’ll clamber out of danger eventually,” adding, “I wouldn’t bet the house on it, but I think they’ll be okay.” This, he concluded, would leave Ross County and St Johnstone in a comparable position to the previous season. He acknowledged that defensively, the team has appeared “decent (apart from the last day),” which he considered a positive aspect. Regarding Cowie’s approach to the goal drought, English suggested acquiring “A winger in January? Some creativity and pace.” He emphasized that “Ross County have made decent January signings in the past and they’re going to have to do it again.”
