Two well-frequented parks have been granted £50,000 to finance significant upgrades, with the community soon to be invited to express their preferences on how the funds should be utilized. Marje Kelly Park and Gorse Hill Park, both located in Trafford, Greater Manchester, received this financial contribution as a result of agreements between the council and developers regarding financial contributions for open spaces. Trafford Council has now initiated a survey to gather residents’ perspectives on the appropriate expenditure of the money. The final date for submitting views is 31 January 2025. Organisers are seeking input from both individuals who regularly use the parks and those who do not. Councillor Stephen Adshead, the council’s executive member for highways, environmental and traded services, emphasized that “it was important everyone has their say on the improvements.” This funding stems from an agreement reached by Trafford Council’s planning teams with the developer responsible for constructing more than 300 homes on the former Itron factory site, also known as Novus, situated between Talbot Road, Christie Road and Renton Road.
