Chris Harris secured the European Grass Track Championship title earlier in the current year. King’s Lynn Stars have secured the services of Chris Harris, a three-time British champion, for their 2025 speedway season. The 41-year-old athlete is recognized as one of the most seasoned competitors in the sport, having previously made several temporary appearances for the Stars during the last season. The team has also brought in Australian rider Ben Cook from Belle Vue, the reigning Premiership champions, and welcomed back Richard Lawson, who rejoins after spending two years with Leicester. A statement from the club noted, “The thought of having Chris Harris at reserve and potentially taking seven rides will frighten the life out of most teams.” The statement continued, “We’ve got a very well-balanced team, and a team that knows how to win things as well. It’s been hard work, but we knew we needed a major overhaul and also a team that will be entertaining.” King’s Lynn concluded the previous Premiership season in sixth place out of seven teams and has not secured a trophy since 2009. In 2024, they advanced to the Knockout Cup semi-finals, where they were defeated 94-86 over two legs by the eventual champions, Sheffield Tigers. The remainder of their squad for the upcoming season will consist of returning captain Nicolai Klindt, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Jan Kvech, and emerging talent Ashton Boughen. The Stars initiated discussions with Robert Lambert, who was the World Championship runner-up, but ultimately could not finalize an agreement. The club stated, “Unfortunately his commitments don’t allow for a full British season at the moment.” It added, “We fully understand that. He was world number this year, he wants to be world champion, and we completely support him in that.”
