Following his extradition from Kosovo to London, a man has been formally charged with two counts of murder and subsequently appeared in court. The individual, identified as 21-year-old Lorik Lupqi, stands accused of the murders of Leonardo Reid, 15, and Klevi Shekaj, 23. Both victims sustained fatal stab wounds during a drill music video shoot in north London on June 29, 2023. Mr. Lupqi, a national of Kosovo, was taken into custody upon his arrival in the United Kingdom on Tuesday. Additionally, the 21-year-old faces a charge of attempted murder concerning Abdullah Abdiullahi, 28, who suffered injuries during the identical event on Elthorne Road in Archway. Mr. Lupqi made an appearance at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, followed by an attendance at the Old Bailey via video-link on Friday. Prosecutor Ben Lloyd informed the Old Bailey that “there were already four other defendants in the case awaiting trial.” The prosecution sought to consolidate Mr. Lupqi’s legal proceedings with those of Jason Furtado, 26, Abel Chunda, 27, Eden Clark, 29, and Xavier Poponne, 21, all of whom are also charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Judge Mark Dennis KC issued a directive for Mr. Lupqi’s case to be combined with those of the other co-defendants. Mr. Lupqi has been remanded in custody, pending a plea hearing scheduled for January 27, which he will attend alongside Mr. Furtado, Mr. Chunda, Mr. Clark, and Mr. Poponne. The trial is slated to commence on March 17 and is projected to span eight weeks. Listen to the best of BBC Radio London on Sounds and follow BBC London on Facebook, X and Instagram.
