A foster care initiative managed by North East Lincolnshire Council has garnered participation from one hundred businesses since its launch in April. The program aims to encourage local companies to provide support for their employees who are also foster carers. Grimsby Town Football Club was the first enterprise to commit to the scheme. The local authority also emphasized the ongoing requirement for additional foster carers. The Trin Community Centre, situated in Cleethorpes, has also joined the scheme and recently hosted a Christmas celebration for foster families. Councillor Margaret Cracknell, the portfolio holder for children and education, stated: “It is wonderful to see one of our Foster Friendly businesses host this Christmas event for our foster families in the area. “All families deserve some festive cheer in their lives, none more so than our foster families.” Foster carers offer homes to vulnerable children and young individuals, many of whom require assistance as they adapt to new surroundings. Lyndsay, a foster carer in Grimsby for three years, recently welcomed nine-month-old baby twins with her husband and expressed her resolve to ensure their Christmas was particularly memorable. Lyndsay remarked: “Christmas is the time we go all out, I try and make memories for them. Each child picks a special bauble to hang on the tree.”
