Former Brighton striker Warren Aspinall has asserted that the Seagulls are “up there with the greats” following their impressive beginning to the current season. A 2-1 victory against Bournemouth on Saturday propelled Fabian Hurzeler’s squad to fifth place in the Premier League after 12 matches. They are currently level on points with Chelsea and Arsenal, and trail champions Manchester City by only one point. Aspinall conveyed his enthusiasm on the Albion Unlimited podcast, stating, “What a feeling it is to open the newspaper on Sunday morning and see the top five in the Premier League and Brighton at the bottom of that.” He continued, “You’re up there with the greats. What a feeling that is as a player.” He also emphasized that this achievement extends beyond the players, encompassing “the staff, it’s everyone who is employed by Brighton, it’s the chairman who has put his money where his mouth is.” He concluded by describing the accumulation of “22 points from 12 games is absolutely brilliant.” Furthermore, Aspinall offered significant commendation for Brighton’s attacking quartet of Karou Mitoma, Joao Pedro, Georginio Rutter, and Danny Welbeck, noting their consistent offensive threat. He further elaborated on their performance, adding, “In the win over Bournemouth on Saturday our front four were like the Red Arrows.” He continued, “They can interchange, the movement they can do – it’s just wonderful football. You saw that in both goals. We need to wrap the four of them up in cotton wool. If they are fit then all of them play no matter what.” He also highlighted the depth of the squad, stating, “If you think waiting in the wings is Simon Adingra, Yankuba Minteh, Evan Ferguson and Julio Encisco who all can’t get a game.” Pedro registered his fourth goal in as many Premier League starts this season, and Aspinall expressed his conviction that Pedro’s potential is limitless if he adopts a more straightforward approach to his play. He elaborated on this point, stating, “The world’s his oyster – another one where that is the case.” Aspinall cautioned, “Sometimes he gets a little bit too cocky, he tries hard things instead of doing the basics. If he sticks to the basics and does them for 90 minutes then the world his oyster.” Post navigation Team Compositions from Pittodrie Crewe Alexandra Issues Three-Year Ban to Fan Over Pyrotechnic Incident
