Worcestershire has confirmed the re-signing of Australian pace bowler Ben Dwarshuis for the full duration of the 2025 T20 Blast competition. Dwarshuis has represented Australia in three T20 matches and one one-day international. The left-arm bowler previously secured 15 wickets during his T20 tenure at New Road in 2021. Despite his performance, the Rapids concluded their group stage in fifth place, failing to advance to the knockout rounds. Pears head coach Alan Richardson commented, “He was probably at the start of his journey then, when he was less experienced. It was such a learning experience for Ben at that time.” In the shortest format of cricket, Dwarshuis has accumulated 169 wickets across 135 matches. He has also participated in four Big Bash finals representing the Sydney Sixers, emerging victorious in two of those contests. During 2024, he played eight matches for Durham and also featured for the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred tournament. Richardson further stated, “Ben is someone who fits the skill-sets we need, someone who can bowl at the top and bottom of the innings and someone who has become quite destructive with the bat as well.” “He showed that in a couple of games he played in The Hundred last year.” Dwarshuis notably scored an unbeaten 40 runs from 20 deliveries for the Superchargers when playing against Trent Rockets. Additionally, earlier this week, he contributed an undefeated 20 runs from eight balls, aiding the Sixers in securing a five-wicket victory over Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash. Dwarshuis commented, “Worcestershire have had some considerable success over the years in T20 cricket and hopefully I can play my part in making next summer one to remember.” New Zealander Jacob Duffy is set to join Dwarshuis in the Worcestershire squad for a segment of the upcoming Blast campaign.
