Over £10,000 has been accumulated through an appeal to assist Hallie-Mae, a five-year-old girl diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Hallie-Mae, who resides in Bayston Hill, Shropshire, received her diagnosis of this blood and bone marrow cancer at the close of November. She is slated to undergo a six-month treatment regimen at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, which will include chemotherapy and an anticipated stem cell transplant. The fundraising campaign aims to gather financial support for her family during this critical time. Hayley Formstone, Hallie-Mae’s aunt, established the appeal and conveyed that every contribution would make “a huge contribution to lessening the burden the family are now facing.” She added, “This is helping us keep our family strong when we need it most.” Formstone further mentioned that any surplus funds would be donated to charities that have supported Hallie-Mae. Her mother, Sophie, stated: “Hallie-Mae’s diagnosis has hit us all like a sledgehammer, it came completely out of the blue and we have been catapulted into unknown territory and a great deal of uncertainty.” However, Sophie described her daughter’s resolve as “unbelievable” and called her a “real warrior,” noting, “Her positivity is infectious.” A charity football match, arranged by Gareth Parry, former manager of Bayston Hill FC, is set to occur on Saturday in Bayston Hill to secure additional funds.
