The States of Guernsey has initiated a call for public feedback concerning the Prevention of Discrimination Ordinance, which became effective in 2022. This legislation provides protection against discrimination based on disability, carer status, sexual orientation, race, and religion or belief. Its scope encompasses employment, access to goods, services, and accommodation, as well as memberships in clubs and associations. Deputy Peter Roffey, President of Employment and Social Security (ESS), has reached out to more than 70 stakeholders to gather their perspectives, though anyone is welcome to submit feedback. Roffey stated that the ESS committee is particularly interested in receiving suggestions for improvements. He also noted that input regarding interactions concerning conciliation and complaints with the Employment and Equal Opportunities Service would be appreciated. The deadline for submitting comments is 12:00 GMT on 20 January. Roffey further indicated that protection within the education sector is slated to be implemented “no earlier than 1 September 2025.” Post navigation Police Force Relaunches Anti-Knife Crime Initiative “Anti-Establishment Cult” Members Imprisoned for Coroner Kidnap Plot
