A partial road closure is scheduled to facilitate the temporary repair of a collapsed sewer pipe. Wessex Water announced that the compromised pipe situated beneath Ringwood Road in Poole, Dorset, will be substituted with a temporary pipe, with comprehensive repairs slated for a future time. The utility company stated this measure aims to prevent exacerbating traffic conditions throughout the town. For the execution of this work, a single-day lane closure will be implemented on Herbert Avenue, specifically in the direction leading to Ringwood Road, on Monday. The installation of the pipe will occur within the pavement, extending from Herbert Avenue adjacent to Horizon Honda Poole, and continuing to the site of the collapse on Ringwood Road. A spokesperson for Wessex Water commented: “Due to other roadworks taking place nearby, we have opted to install a temporary sewer pipe rather than complete the full repair straight away, which will require a southbound closure on a section of Ringwood Road.” The spokesperson added: “This will avoid worsening traffic in the area while the other roadworks are completed, especially in the run-up to Christmas.” They indicated that Wessex Water intends to coordinate with BCP Council to determine a schedule for the permanent repair.
