A yellow weather alert concerning snow has been put in place for specific areas within Devon and Cornwall. The Met Office announced that the warning is set to become active at 05:00 GMT on Thursday and will continue until approximately 15:00 GMT on the same day. The agency indicated that snowfall is anticipated primarily across elevated terrain, with an estimated 2-5cm of snow deemed “probable.” Furthermore, elevated sections of Dartmoor might experience accumulations ranging from 5-10cm. Potential travel disruptions were highlighted, along with a probable risk of icy conditions, the warning stated. The Met Office communicated that hazardous driving conditions were a possibility. It advised: “Keep yourself and others safe by planning your route, giving yourself extra time for your journey.” Bee Tucker, a broadcast meteorologist for BBC South West, stated that Friday’s weather forecast included cold, dry, and sunny conditions. She also mentioned that the subsequent named storm was projected to arrive later on Friday, bringing with it powerful winds and substantial rainfall.
