Blackburn Rovers defender Hayden Carter has undergone surgery for a knee injury and could be sidelined for the remainder of 2024. The 24-year-old sustained the injury during Rovers’ goalless 0-0 draw against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday, where he was forced off the field in the 34th minute. Carter, who has played 97 matches for Rovers across all competitions, underwent the procedure, leaving Blackburn with only three available central defenders: Dominic Hyam, Danny Batth, and Kyle McFadzean. “I think Hayden’s going to be out for between two and three months,” Eustace said, external. “It’s a big low to us, unfortunately.“When I came in last season, Hayden came into the team and did very well. He’s started this season and has done very well playing in a number of positions.“It is what it is. We’ve lost Hayden now and it’s time for somebody else to step up and be the man, which is what the squad’s all about.”
