The Charlatans, renowned figures in indie music, have been announced as the headlining act for the DocksFest music festival in Cleethorpes next year. The lineup also features performances by Ash, Maximo Park, Corella, and Coach Party. The event is scheduled to take place at the Meridian Showground on Saturday, July 5. Thousands of music enthusiasts attended the festival’s inaugural edition earlier this year, which included Razorlight, Feeder, and The Lottery Winners among its headline performers. Since their breakthrough in 1990, The Charlatans have achieved three UK number one albums and seven top 10 singles, with notable tracks like “The Only One I Know” and “North Country Boy.” Festival founder Will Douglas expressed his excitement, stating: “We’re delighted to welcome The Charlatans as next year’s DocksFest headliner. It gives me goose bumps to think we will be watching them bring the curtain down on Docksfest 2025 as the sun sets over Cleethorpes.” Earlier this year, the first DocksFest event attracted more than 4,000 attendees and was nominated for the UK Festival Awards 2024. At that time, Mr. Douglas commented on the festival’s broad appeal, saying: “We’ve had people who have come from all over the country, from Liverpool, from Devon and from Scotland, so it’s fantastic to see this location being on the map for the rest of the UK for live music.” For additional content from Lincolnshire, highlights are available on BBC Sounds, and the latest episode of Look North can be viewed.
