An individual who previously served as an officer with Sussex Police is scheduled to appear in court, facing charges of fraud and conspiracy to obstruct the course of justice. Seren Sriganesh is set to appear before Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) stated that the allegations against him include failing to declare having six or more penalty points on his driving licence and subsequently not disclosing these points to his motor insurance providers. The 23-year-old individual also faces accusations of falsely identifying his parents as the responsible parties for three distinct driving infractions that occurred between September 2020 and November 2023. Additionally, he is accused of accessing police systems to review information pertaining to one of these speeding violations. The IOPC’s investigation commenced in May of this year, initiated after a referral from Sussex Police, as the oversight body further noted in a statement. Mr. Sriganesh tendered his resignation from the police force in October of this year. The charges against him include conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation, two counts of fraud by failing to disclose information, and unlawfully obtaining personal data.
