A man diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour has created a film detailing his medical treatment. Matthew White, who resides in Brighton, East Sussex, received his diagnosis after experiencing a series of seizures. The 40-year-old is currently undergoing treatment and is also focused on spending as much time as possible with his wife and two young children. He is actively supporting Stand Up To Cancer, a collaborative initiative between Cancer Research UK and Channel 4, aimed at increasing awareness and securing funding for the development of new treatments. Recounting the moment he received his diagnosis, Mr. White stated: “I remember asking them, ‘you can take this out, can’t you?’ And they just said, ‘no, we can’t, not all of it.'” He continued, “And I said, ‘you’ll cure the rest of it, won’t you?’ And they just said, ‘no, we can’t.'” Mr. White explained that his decision to create the film was driven by a desire to emphasize the extensive research required to discover effective treatments. He further commented: “Twelve thousand people are diagnosed with brain tumours every year in the UK, and there are 34 people today who will hear those words, ‘you have a brain tumour’.” He added, “This is for them, as much as it is for me, because the moment we stop talking about it is the moment we all give up.” He concluded, “We need people to hear what this is like because tomorrow it could be you.” Following brain surgery and a six-week course of radiotherapy, he is presently undergoing chemotherapy.
