A bus operator is marking four decades of service in a portion of the East of England. Stagecoach East, which commenced operations in 1984 as Cambus, is observing this milestone. Cambus continues to be the official legal name for the company that operates its bus services within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. To commemorate the anniversary, staff celebrations were organized at its three Cambridgeshire depots – Cambridge, Fenstanton, and Peterborough – in addition to its Bedford depot. The firm is inviting customers to participate by sharing any historical photographs they may have. A specially-painted heritage bus, featuring the original Cambus colours, has toured the depots, distributing cakes and commemorative badges to staff members. Darren Roe, the managing director of Stagecoach East, commented: “We are hugely proud to serve our communities in Cambridgeshire and beyond. Cambus has been a fixture here for 40 years and we look forward to bringing people together, across the East, for the next 40 years and more.” He further stated: “It just highlights the fact that we have such history and so much acquired knowledge in the region – we know every tight bend and every overhanging tree – and we have such pride to be at the heart of our communities in this dynamic and forward-looking region.” The company is encouraging individuals to share memories and photographs related to the company by using the hashtag #Cambus40.
