A couple who met and fell in love during the Dave Day celebrations, held in memory of TV chef Dave Myers, has stated that the upcoming second edition of the event will be “just that bit more special”. Ryan Crawford and Laura Burrows intend to ride the route to Barrow, in Cumbria, following the announcement of the Dave Day 2 date by Lili Myers, the star’s widow. Ryan was among the tens of thousands of bikers who converged on Barrow last summer, participating in a procession that originated in London and was led by Si King, Myers’ fellow Hairy Biker. Due to the event’s significant popularity, Dave Day is scheduled to take place again on 21 and 22 June next year. Myers passed away in February at the age of 66, after a cancer diagnosis. Lili Myers and family friend Jason Woodcock confirmed the event’s return, also announcing the creation of a permanent tribute in Barrow-in-Furness. Ryan, who works as a biker and bartender, has since relocated from the Midlands to the northern town to reside with Laura. In an interview with Mike Zeller on BBC Radio Cumbria, the 30-year-old confirmed he “absolutely” intends to ride at the event next June, with Laura as his passenger. He stated: “As soon as Lili announced the dates I messaged Laura straight away to say we have to be there.” He added: “For us to be able to ride together next year just makes it that bit more special.” Ryan mentioned that relocating to Cumbria was “something I always thought about,” having visited his nan in the region during his childhood. Laura, a teaching assistant, further stated that they have “been excited about Dave Day 2 for quite a while.” Since their meeting, the couple has been “going off on adventures around the Lakes” and is currently planning a route for exploration in Scotland next year. Laura, 26, recounted that she had “taken some deck chairs with friends” to position herself at Abbey Road and observe the “fantastic parade of bikes coming in” on Dave Day. She commented: “I absolutely love bikes. I don’t think there’s a woman around who hasn’t watched Grease 2 and doesn’t wish they were Michelle Pfeiffer singing Cool Rider.” She concluded: “To be fair I think I’m just living that little dream now.” Lili Myers remarked that the event has had a “miraculous” impact on individuals. She stated: “We had one couple celebrating their honeymoon on Dave Day in Barrow, and one young couple are now together after meeting on Dave Day.” She then asked: “How wonderful is that?” Post navigation Ripley Museum Acquires Woman’s Four-Decade Bedpan Collection Sunderland Accommodation Centre Supports Homeless Individuals with Pet Ownership
