An individual has pleaded guilty to initiating a fire during a riot at a hotel accommodating over 200 asylum seekers. Mason Lowe, 27, was involved in the violent disorder that took place on 4 August outside the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers, near Rotherham. More than 60 police officers sustained injuries as rioters broke windows and ignited fires around the premises. Lowe, of Lowfield Road, Bolton-upon-Dearne, entered a guilty plea at Sheffield Crown Court to arson with intent to endanger life, having previously admitted a charge of violent disorder. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on 24 January for sentencing.
