Four individuals sustained injuries during a Bonfire Night celebration in Norfolk when a firework, originating from outside the designated event area, landed among the attendees. An estimated 20,000 people, believed to be a record attendance, gathered for Fawkes in The Walks in King’s Lynn on Friday evening. West Norfolk Council, the organizing body for the event, confirmed that the firework originated from beyond the display’s perimeter. The council’s events team reported that medical personnel, including doctors and paramedics, were present on site and provided care to four individuals for minor injuries. “Each [injured person] received treatment for minor injuries and was thankfully able to leave the park afterwards,” stated the council. The council further elaborated, “Although we make a great effort each year to discourage fireworks or sparklers in the park, the firework that entered the crowd was from a property outside our event.” “Thankfully we had sufficient experts on hand to deal with this. Our thoughts are with the four who were injured and we wish them a speedy recovery.” Information regarding Norfolk news is available on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X. Copyright 2024 BBC.
