Henry Walker previously represented England at the 2018 World Under-20 Championship. Northampton Saints have announced the acquisition of hooker Henry Walker, who joins from Championship club Ealing Trailfinders. The 26-year-old is set to join the team immediately, providing additional depth following the long-term injury sustained by Robbie Smith earlier in the current season. Walker developed through Gloucester’s academy system, making 72 first-team appearances before his transfer to Ealing in the summer of 2023. Director of rugby Phil Dowson stated, “Henry is someone who’s played in the Premiership before, and while he’s been involved with a strong Ealing side recently, he was interested in coming in and testing himself within our environment.” Dowson added, “We felt operating with only three hookers left us a little light, so we’re delighted to bring in someone of Henry’s calibre and experience – the set piece has to be fundamental for a front rower, and he’s got all the attributes that we’re looking for in that space.” In other news, the Saints have also confirmed the departure of Gavin Thornbury at the conclusion of his short-term contract, following lock Will Spencer’s transfer to Ospreys. The 30-year-old lock made six appearances for the club after joining in September from Connacht.
