A defibrillator, with the potential to save lives, has been installed at a sports club in Wolverhampton. This apparatus has been mounted on a wall at the main entrance of the Woodfield Social and Sports Club’s primary building, located in Penn. The club reported that committee member Kolin Bhogal coordinated with various organizations, including West Midlands Ambulance, to facilitate its setup. Such devices are capable of increasing survival chances by up to 70% if deployed within five minutes of a cardiac arrest. Penn councillor Celia Hibbert assisted in securing some council funding for the defibrillator, collaborating with the Wolverhampton Gateway Club and Special Olympics. Louise Astley, the club’s stewardess, commented: “We welcome thousands of visitors to Woodfield Club every year therefore it’s important to have this life-saving equipment at such a key location”. She further stated: “In the crucial minutes during a cardiac arrest, it is vital that a defibrillator can be accessed quickly.” For further updates, follow BBC Wolverhampton & Black Country on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
