Hundreds of festively attired runners are scheduled to return to the streets of the Isle of Man’s capital next month for the annual charity Santa Dash. This fun run involves participants donning outfits such as Santa suits, reindeer costumes, and elf attire to complete a 1-mile (1.6km) course through the center of Douglas. Marking its 23rd year in 2024, the event is set to begin at 12:30 GMT on 18 December on Prospect Hill, outside the Isle of Man Bank, which is the organizer of the event. Last year’s dash established a new attendance record, with 401 runners taking part. Participants in the run have the option to either select their own charities for fundraising or choose from a list of charities provided by the organizer. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the race, as well as to the best-dressed Santas and teams. Event organizers stated that while timing chips are utilized to determine finishing positions in the race and to facilitate registration, the event remains “very much a charity fundraiser.” Organizers further added, “Whilst some Santas do have an element of competition between themselves, the focus really is on having some fun and raising money for local charities.” Post navigation Man’s Deceased Father’s Possessions Destroyed in Deadly Blaze West of England Local News Roundup: Cycle Hub Debate and Community Stories
