A water main sustained damage, leading to water supply interruptions for residents and a hospital in specific areas of Dorset. Wessex Water issued an alert regarding a lack of water and reduced pressure in the Poole vicinity, confirming an ongoing investigation into the matter. Following an initial warning posted on its website, the utility company announced that water services had been reinstated, although repair efforts on the main pipeline were still in progress. Poole Hospital verified that it experienced a problem with its water provision, which has subsequently been rectified. A spokesperson for Wessex Water stated: “Third-party damage to a water main left some customers without water or experiencing low pressure earlier.“We have restored supplies by redirecting water around our network. The damaged section of pipework has been isolated and supplies will be unaffected by the repair work.“We’re also working closely with Poole Hospital to ensure their water supply is maintained. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.” A representative from University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust indicated that their “number one priority” was to uphold the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The spokesperson added: “We immediately put in contingency plans to preserve water and worked closely with Wessex Water to ensure our hospital had further supplies of water, including via tankers.” They further stated: “Mains water supply has now been restored, but we are continuing to monitor the situation closely and tankers have remained on site as a precaution.” MP Neil Duncan-Jordan communicated via social media that the issue was expected to be resolved by later on Friday evening. He also conveyed: “Wessex Water advise to run your cold water kitchen tap for up to 30 to 40 minutes until the water runs clean again.” The MP concluded: “As always, my team are on hand to support any constituents.”
