James Penrice Encourages Hearts to Build on St Johnstone Victory

James Penrice has called on Hearts to leverage their 2-1 win against St Johnstone on Sunday as a foundation to ascend the Premiership standings. This triumph saw the Edinburgh club move from the league’s lowest position to 10th place, ahead of their derby match against Hibs scheduled for 26 December. The left-back commented on the significance of the win, stating, “I think we needed it.” He added that the result “sets up a good few games now, so hopefully we can go on a wee run and climb the table.” Penrice acknowledged fan frustration, remarking, “The fans have had a reason to be angry that it’s not been good enough but I think today [Sunday] you’ve seen a team that were together, and I think everyone pulled in the right direction.” He further praised his teammates’ performance, asserting, “I thought the boys were brilliant for the majority of the game.” Expressing his personal aspirations for his tenure at the club, Penrice concluded, “I want it to be a successful time, I said that before as well, I want to remember my time when I leave here, and hopefully we can go and put a wee run together now.”
