Hull Kingston Rovers’ captain, Elliot Minchella, has committed to the club for an additional three years by signing a contract extension. Minchella led Hull KR to the Grand Final in the previous season. The 28-year-old loose forward’s significant contribution to the Robins’ outstanding 2024 season, which saw them achieve their best-ever Super League finish in second place, has been recognized with this new deal. The team also advanced to the Grand Final, where they were defeated by Wigan Warriors in what marked Minchella’s 100th appearance for Hull KR. This followed their loss in the Challenge Cup final to Leigh Leopards the previous year. Minchella has played a pivotal role in Rovers’ emergence as a prominent contender in English rugby league, earning his inaugural England cap this summer and securing a spot in the Super League Dream Team. His tenure with the Robins began in 2020, following previous stints at Leeds Rhinos, Sheffield Eagles, and Bradford Bulls. According to Head Coach Willie Peters, Minchella’s off-field personality has been just as crucial to the club’s recent achievements as his competitive performance on the field. “We wanted to lock down Mini for a long period of time,” Peters told the club website, external. “He’s our captain and he’s our leader. “He’s played a big part in the club’s journey and helping us to get where we are at the moment. It’s not only what he does on the field, but what he does off the field.”
