Katie Taylor currently holds world titles in both the light-welterweight and lightweight divisions. Promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed his view that a prospective trilogy match between Taylor and Amanda Serrano would be considered “one of the biggest fights of all time,” and he is hopeful it could be hosted at Dublin’s Croke Park. The two previous encounters between Taylor, the 38-year-old Irish boxer, and Serrano, the Puerto Rican fighter, are widely regarded as modern-day classics. Taylor secured a points victory over Serrano in Texas earlier this month, following another points win in New York two years prior. Both athletes received their highest career earnings from these contests. Their rematch served as the primary undercard event for Jake Paul’s victory against Mike Tyson and was reportedly streamed to 74 million global viewers on Netflix. Hearn commented on the potential third bout, stating, “I think a third fight with Amanda, given the viewership on Netflix and the success of the first fight, would result in not just the biggest female fight of all time but one of the biggest fights of all time.” Taylor, recognized as one of boxing’s most accomplished competitors, holds the undisputed light-welterweight championship, in addition to the WBA and WBC lightweight titles. Although a third contest with the 38-year-old Serrano remains the primary objective, Hearn has indicated that a homecoming match against a mandatory challenger in spring or summer 2025 has not been dismissed. Potential mandatory challengers include British boxer Caroline Dubois in the lightweight division, and Chantelle Cameron, whom Taylor defeated six months after an initial loss in May 2023. Hearn further remarked, “The reality is that Katie hasn’t got many fights left but the trilogy with Chantelle Cameron is also definitely a fight Katie wants.” In February 2023, The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) identified Matchroom’s unwillingness to cover “security costs” as the primary impediment preventing a Taylor fight from being held at the 82,000-seat Croke Park. Taylor has consistently expressed her wish to compete at the venue, and Hearn believes the widespread exposure from the recent rematch could “kick Croke Park over the line.” Regarding the Croke Park possibility, Hearn stated, “I don’t want to get too excited over it because we’ve been there before but if we’re ever going to do it it would be on the back of a fight and viewership like that.” Post navigation Weekly Quiz: Rafael Nadal’s Tennis Departure Celtic’s Tannadice Draw Prompts Call for Immediate Recovery
