Transport for London (TfL) has declared an additional partial closure of the Blackwall Tunnel. According to TfL, the southbound section will be inaccessible from 23:00 GMT on Saturday through 05:00 on Monday. This closure is necessary to facilitate construction on a revised road configuration in preparation for an upcoming river crossing. Furthermore, a potential closure spanning from 23:00 Friday to 06:00 Saturday has been identified as a contingency measure. The Silvertown Tunnel is scheduled to commence operations in 2025. Following its opening, motorists utilizing either tunnel will incur charges of up to £4 during peak hours for crossing the Thames. Despite having experienced multiple weekend closures earlier this year, the Blackwall Tunnel will continue to operate for northbound traffic. Increased traffic volume is anticipated for the Woolwich Ferry, Rotherhithe Tunnel, and Tower Bridge. Bus route 108, which is the sole service traversing the Blackwall Tunnel, will instead operate in two segments: between Lewisham and North Greenwich, and from Canning Town to Stratford. Individuals completing their travel via the Jubilee line will receive automatic refunds.
