Joel Embiid, who has not played since assisting Team USA in securing a gold medal at the Paris Olympics in August, is now subject to an NBA investigation concerning a reported physical altercation with a journalist. The confrontation occurred in the Philadelphia locker room, where Embiid reportedly addressed the reporter about an article that referenced his son and deceased brother, alongside critiques of his physical condition and professional conduct. The seven-time NBA All-Star and 2023 Most Valuable Player has been sidelined this season due to an ongoing knee problem. This incident took place following the 76ers’ 124-107 defeat by the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. Embiid is reported to have stated, “The next time you bring up my dead brother and my son again, you are going to see what I’m going to do to you and I’m going to have to live with the consequences.” During the ongoing altercation, Embiid, aged 30, is further alleged to have pushed the reporter’s shoulder before a Sixers official separated the two individuals. Embiid had previously referenced the article in question during a news conference held on Friday. He commented, “When I see people saying ‘he doesn’t want to play’ – I’ve done way too much for this city, putting myself at risk, for people to be saying that.” In an official statement, the NBA declared: “We are aware of reports of an incident in the Sixers locker room this evening and are commencing an investigation.” Daryl Morey, the Sixers’ president of basketball operations, informed ESPN that the club has also initiated an investigation and considers the situation “very seriously.” Post navigation Brighton Manager Dario Vidosic Commends Team’s Early Season Performance Graham Carey Urges St Johnstone to ‘Win Ugly’ – Gossip Report
