Brighton’s manager, Dario Vidosic, who joined the club this summer from Melbourne City Women, has expressed his pride in his players’ performance this season, though he acknowledges there remains “still a long way to go.” Vidosic’s summer arrival coincided with a significant transfer window, during which Brighton made investments aimed at achieving their goal of entering the WSL’s top three. The team, known as The Seagulls, is presently ranked fifth in the league standings, having secured five victories in nine matches, as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Tottenham on Saturday at 17:30 GMT. Reflecting on their progress, Vidosic remarked: “We maybe sometimes forget it’s only nine games. From where we were at the start to where we are now…” He continued, stating, “We went to the home of the champions last week and I was very proud of our efforts and the way we played. We put the fight to them. “We are trying to figure out different ways that we can be effective. That’s something we can be proud of. The players deserve their flowers. “They have done really well but we know it’s only nine games in. A long way to go, much for us to improve but we have to be very thankful for their efforts.” Key points from his news conference included: Vidosic expressed his “satisfaction” with Brighton’s current position this season, notwithstanding some less-than-stellar displays in the Women’s League Cup. He noted that the squad has encountered “hurdles and been challenged” throughout the season, and is adapting to the “new pressure” associated with contending at the top of the table. Vidosic anticipates a challenging match against Tottenham, highlighting that they possess “lot of facets of their game they are very good at.” Vidosic emphasized that all teams aim to conclude on a “positive note” before the winter break, requiring Brighton to be prepared for such an intensity.
