A Lincolnshire town, Louth, is set to see hundreds of individuals, attired as Santa, participate in a run through its streets this December. This event, named The Santa Run for Life, aims to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and is scheduled to commence in Louth market place on Sunday, December 8, at 11:00 GMT. Participants in this festive fun run will have the option of completing either a 2km (1.25 mile) or a 4km (2.5 mile) course. Simon West, who serves as Chairman of Louth Run for Life, stated that the event’s essence lies in “having a bit of fun whilst raising money for a really good cause”. The organization of this event is a collaborative effort between Louth Rotary and Louth Run for Life, the latter of which has previously generated more than £750,000 for Cancer Research UK via its yearly event. Mr. West commented, “These events have grown from strength to strength and we now have so much support from the community in Louth.” He added, “We’re hoping to get as many Santas in the town centre as possible. It will be a sea of red throughout Louth.” The course for the run is designed to both commence and conclude in Louth Market Place, guiding participants through the town centre and past St James’ Church. Mr. West further indicated that the event is intended to generate funds for a significant cause. He stated, “Cancer Research is close to everyone’s heart. One in two of us will be affected, so it’s important.” Concluding, he remarked, “We’re hoping it will also be a great community event and get everyone in the Christmas spirit. It will be quite the spectacle.” Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved. The BBC is not responsible for the content of external sites. Read about our approach to external linking.
