Sussex Police also stated that a Public Space Protection Order will be enforced within the city centre. The force reiterated that “Fans attending were informed that alcohol outside of licensed premises, including from bottles and cans, can be seized and removed by officers.” According to police, the augmented presence aims to guarantee that all individuals present at the football match have a “safe and enjoyable experience.” Anticipated travel disruptions into the city are also expected, especially in the vicinity of Brighton railway station. Sussex Police advised: “Residents and visitors making journeys are advised to allow extra travel time and to check updates with transport providers.” In February, seven individuals were apprehended following altercations between supporters of the two clubs. The arrests encompassed charges such as assault, assault on an emergency worker, affray, and violations of the Public Order Act, with two of these being aggravated by homophobia.
