An application has been submitted for the conversion of a social club, which has been unoccupied since 2020, into a supermarket. Documents presented to the City of Doncaster Council outline a proposal to transform the former Graceholme Social Club, situated in Warmsworth, Doncaster, into a Heron Foods establishment. Prior plans to demolish the structure on Edlington Lane to make way for a purpose-built retail outlet were abandoned after they proved unviable. Developer Unica Group Ltd stated that the new shop is expected to generate up to three full-time and 12 part-time employment opportunities. The proposals indicate that minor modifications would be undertaken to bring the site back into operation, including the widening of its access road on Edlington Lane. The Local Democracy Service reports that the site’s existing 17 car parking spaces would be maintained and made accessible for both staff and customers. If approved, the store’s operating hours would be from 08:00 to 20:00 Monday through Saturday, and from 10:00 to 16:00 on Sundays.
