Jersey Hospice Care has introduced a strategic plan covering the upcoming three-year period. This initiative aims to broaden its impact through the enhancement of current services, the creation of new ones, and the strengthening of collaborations. Mike Palfreman, who serves as the chief executive of Jersey Hospice Care, indicated an anticipated rise in the need for their services, attributing this to the island’s growing elderly population. He further stated that the recently adopted strategy ensures “we are best placed to meet this increasing demand.” Mr. Palfreman commented: “It’s essential islanders receive dignified, high quality, and individualised end of life care, and their loved ones are supported both before and after their death. Our new strategy will ensure we are best placed to meet this increasing demand, and that we are directly aligned with the island’s first Palliative and End of Life Care Strategy – which launched in October 2023. We know we will face challenges along the way, especially financial – with rising costs on an almost daily basis, but we can look forward with optimism. We have an incredible and committed team of hospice volunteers and colleagues, and we have a unique role in the lives of islanders.” The hospice has identified five key strategic priorities:
