A new facility is being established in Hull with the aim of assisting aspiring entrepreneurs in launching new businesses within the city. Hull City Council has announced the allocation of £1.5 million in government funding for the refurbishment of 161 High Street in the Old Town, where this youth enterprise hub will be situated. Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, the council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, remarked that investing in young people and businesses is anticipated to contribute to the city’s economic expansion. He stated, “This new hub will provide a much-needed friendly and welcoming space for young people from all over Hull to grow their skill base and self-confidence by learning from local business experts and inspiring peers.” He also added, “The aim is that, for whatever length of their engagement with the hub, young people come out of it better prepared for the world of work.” The authority indicated that its initial focus for the project would be on regenerating the ground and first floors of the building. This endeavor forms part of its broader strategy to “help create an enterprise culture which is vital to establishing a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive economy for Hull”.
