Food waste collections are scheduled to commence in specific areas of north east Cornwall, according to statements from council officials. Cornwall Council announced via a Facebook post that the new bin system for towns such as Bodmin, Padstow, and Launceston is set to launch on Monday. This new system incorporates an indoor food caddy, which residents are instructed to use for waste items like tea bags, eggshells, and vegetable peelings. These items should be placed into biodegradable bags, which are then to be transferred to a larger outdoor bin for subsequent collection. The council indicated that the new system, which is being implemented county-wide across Cornwall, aims to decrease the volume of non-recyclable waste generated. The collected food waste will be converted into farm fertiliser and clean energy.
