Lincoln City centre-back Lewis Montsma, who was sidelined for the entirety of the previous season due to a knee injury, has secured a new contract, extending his tenure at the club until the summer of 2027. The Dutch player has participated in 13 matches this season, having recovered from a second ACL knee injury. Since his debut for the Imps in 2020, Montsma has accumulated 96 appearances and scored 11 goals. Montsma commented on his journey, stating: “It has been a long road but the club have shown a lot of trust in me and, with some real hard work, it has worked out.” He further added: “Easing me back into it with one game a week was right for me and I feel I am getting back to my best. I feel fitter and better after every game, and just want to keep this run going.” Lincoln currently holds the sixth position in League One as the festive and New Year period approaches, with an upcoming away match against Shrewsbury Town scheduled for Boxing Day. Jez George, the club’s director of football, indicated that the new agreement serves as a testament to Montsma’s “incredible hard work, resilience, determination and character.” George also stated: “We will still need to control Lewis’s minutes this season. It is testament to the culture of our club that we refuse to put Lewis’s career at risk for a single result despite the recent unavailability of other centre-backs.” Post navigation Thornaby FC Women’s Team to Play in FA Cup First Round After Near Disbandment The Lasting Emotional Impact of Phillip Hughes’ Death on Australia
