Fleetwood Town defender Kayden Hughes has committed to a new long-term contract, extending his stay with the League Two club until the close of the 2026-27 season. Hughes notably scored his first senior goal for the team in their 6-2 triumph over Walsall earlier in October. The 18-year-old player progressed through the club’s youth academy, having initially joined from the local grassroots organization, Bispham Juniors Football Federation. The centre-back secured his initial professional contract in 2023 and subsequently made his debut with the first team earlier in the current season. Hughes, who has accumulated a total of nine appearances across all competitions to date, has finalized his new agreement, which includes an option for an additional year.
