Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed his anticipation for the team’s return to their home ground for the match against Mansfield Town, following their FA Cup first-round loss to Harrogate Town last weekend. Wrexham has secured victories in seven of their 13 League One matches this season. Currently third in League One and maintaining an unbeaten home record this season, Wrexham is set to play Mansfield, who are positioned fourth and trail the Dragons by a single point. The Saturday fixture, scheduled for 12:30 GMT at the Stok Racecourse, occurs six days after Parkinson’s team suffered a 1-0 defeat to League Two club Harrogate in the FA Cup. Parkinson stated, “Both teams have got good momentum, it’s going to be a great game and I’m looking forward to it.” He added, “We’ve had some tough games against Mansfield over the last year or so. I’m looking forward to coming up against Nigel [Clough] and his team.” Parkinson also commented on the opposition’s squad, saying, “They’ve made some really good signings like we have so it’s going to be a competitive keenly fought game.” Mansfield’s notable summer acquisitions include Will Evans, a former Newport County forward who has scored five league goals this season, and their leading scorer Lee Gregory, credited with seven goals thus far. Parkinson acknowledged his caution regarding the offensive capabilities of these two players. The Wrexham manager elaborated, stating, “Both have done well, Gregory has good movement around the box which has been the hallmark of his career and we need to work dealing with that.” He further remarked, “But we’ve got good defenders and we look forward to playing against good players in any division.” Last season, Wrexham remained undefeated in all three encounters with the Stags. Parkinson’s team secured a 2-0 win at the Stok Racecourse in March, and goals by Sam Dalby and Paul Mullin led the Dragons to an FA Cup triumph, with the third match concluding in a 0-0 draw. Parkinson also conveyed his excitement for the chance to compete before an enthusiastic home crowd against well-known adversaries. Parkinson commented, “I’m looking forward to getting back on home turf again.” He concluded, “The great thing there’s always a buzz about the build up to a home game, there really is. You can feel it in the area so we’ve got to get this place absolutely rocking for the weekend.”
