Animal rescuers successfully freed a magpie from an adhesive trap, transforming its predicament. The Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital reported that the bird was discovered by the RSPCA with the device affixed to its tail before being admitted on 5 November. A veterinarian utilized oil to detach the sticky trap. Following this, the magpie was transported to the wildlife hospital for ongoing rehabilitation, which involved “several baths.” The team at the Kibworth Beauchamp-based hospital confirmed that the bird has since been returned to the wild. Through a social media post, they conveyed: “Thankfully rodent sticky traps have now been banned, except with a licence, but fly sticky traps still pose a problem and are indiscriminate.”
