A new initiative, named “How Are You Really Feeling?”, has been introduced across East and West Sussex. Its purpose is to encourage residents to prioritize their mental wellbeing during the colder months. This campaign is scheduled to run until January 12 and aims to increase awareness of the various mental health services and resources available throughout Sussex. It seeks to foster a positive environment for discussing mental health in everyday conversations by encouraging individuals to regularly connect with those around them. The NHS Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust reports that an estimated 220,000 individuals in Sussex are believed to experience a common mental health disorder. However, the trust noted that the actual figure is likely considerably higher, as this estimate only includes people who have been recorded as accessing services. Oliver Dale, chief medical officer at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, commented: “Christmas and the New Year can be a difficult time for many, challenging us mentally and emotionally. “Checking in with someone – or reaching out yourself to others who might need your support – can make all the difference.”” For further updates, BBC Sussex can be followed on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
