England Rugby Union player Alex Mitchell disclosed his intention to deviate from his standard dietary regimen on Christmas Day, opting to consume “what I want.” The 27-year-old and his fellow Northampton Saints players are scheduled to have Christmas Day free from training, with their regular schedule resuming on Boxing Day. Mitchell had been sidelined at the start of the season due to a neck injury but made his return to play earlier in the current month. He stated: “I will be eating what I want and when I want, before we are back on Boxing Day.” The scrum-half further commented on the dietary habits of certain larger players, noting: “Some of the bigger players consume over 4,000 calories a day, maybe even 5,000.” George Hendy, a teammate of Mitchell, indicated that no specific regulations govern players’ food and drink choices on Christmas Day, asserting that it “depends on the individual.” The full-back remarked: “Thankfully I am on an all-I-can-eat diet.” He continued: “Eat what I want and when I want, so Christmas day will be incredibly fun for me.” Henry Pollock, aged nineteen, who is recognized as one of English rugby’s emerging talents, recently finalized a new multi-year contract with the Northampton Saints. However, echoing his teammates, he stated: “I will be eating as much as I can and want – that’s for sure.” The team’s subsequent match is scheduled against the Newcastle Falcons, to be held at the Cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, the home ground of the Northampton Saints, on 28 December at 15:00 GMT.
