A light aircraft pilot lost his life following a crash into a field in the vicinity of Fife Airport. The individual, identified as a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the site, located near Kinglassie, shortly before 11:40. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) announced its investigation into the incident, which occurred close to the airport—a compact airfield utilized by local flying clubs. According to Police Scotland, no other individuals sustained injuries in the accident, and inquiries into the matter are currently in progress. A rescue helicopter, alongside specialized units from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), was deployed to the scene of the crash. A spokesperson for the SFRS stated: “We were alerted at 11:38 on Monday 23 December to an incident involving a light aircraft near Kinglassie, Fife.” They added, “Operations Control mobilised two appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene to assist emergency services partners.” The AAIB confirmed that an investigation had commenced. An AAIB spokesperson commented: “A team of inspectors are travelling to the accident site to make inquiries and gather evidence as part of the process of conducting a safety investigation.”
