An NHS trust has reported that over 15,000 patients have received services at three recently established diagnostic centres since their inauguration. Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust anticipates approximately 60,000 individuals will utilize these facilities, located at Sulis Hospital in Bath, West Swindon Health Centre, and Salisbury Centre Health Clinic, by April of the upcoming year. The facility in Bath commenced operations in March 2023, whereas the other two began serving patients in spring 2024. These centres offer diagnostic services, including CT scans, X-rays, and endoscopy procedures, which were previously exclusively accessible within hospital settings. Their establishment aims to free up hospital personnel, enabling them to dedicate more attention to patients requiring more intricate care. Claire Thompson, the trust’s chief officer of improvements and partnerships, stated: “Although each of our three diagnostic centres are now open, this is only the beginning of our journey to bring the same high-quality care that patients would get in an acute hospital into the community.”
