The historic market town of Banbury, situated in Oxfordshire, is preparing to host its Victorian-themed Christmas market for the third consecutive year. This event will feature over 130 stalls and live musical performances, with individuals dressed in 19th-century attire providing entertainment for attendees. Scheduled to occur between November 22 and November 24, the market’s conclusion will coincide with the ceremonial switching on of the town’s Christmas lights. The organisers, Banbury Business Improvement District (Banbury BID) and LSD Promotions, stated that the weekend event is anticipated to be a “festive blend of nostalgia, joy and community spirit”. In a statement announcing the market’s return, Banbury BID affirmed: “Supporting local businesses and creating memorable experiences for our community is what this season is all about.” They added, “Let’s celebrate Banbury together!” Local musicians are also slated to perform, including bands from area schools and one representing the nearby Hook Norton Brewery. LSD Promotions commented that it has been “wonderful” to witness the market’s growth each year, further stating that this year’s iteration is expected to be “the best one yet.” A spokesperson for the event remarked, “This event brings people together, creates joyful moments and supports our local traders.” For updates, BBC Oxfordshire can be followed on Facebook, X, or Instagram.
