Olympic curling gold medalist Jen Dodds, who secured Olympic gold with Eve Muirhead in 2022, expressed her continued “taste for winning” as she pursues a second European Championship title. The 33-year-old Dodds previously earned European gold with Eve Muirhead’s team in 2021, preceding their victory at the Winter Olympics in Beijing the subsequent year. She is currently a member of Rebecca Morrison’s team, which seeks to secure a medal position when the championships commence in Finland this Saturday. “I think once you have got those medals, you have got a taste for winning, and you want to replicate that feeling,” Dodds stated in an interview with BBC Sport Scotland. She further elaborated, “Obviously the Olympics was the pinnacle for me. People still ask me: ‘How does it feel?’ And I am still like: ‘It still feels bizarre’.” Dodds also remarked, “I always said it was going to take a couple of years to sink in, but it is always exciting to get playing and have that competitiveness with your country’s name on the back.” Dodds became a member of Morrison’s team last year, and the four-person group narrowly missed a medal opportunity at the 2023 European Championships, concluding the competition in fifth place in Aberdeen. Nevertheless, she expressed confidence that the team “have come a long way” since then, and are traveling to Finland in strong condition, having “worked on a lot of areas.” Dodds’ current objective is to assist Morrison and the other members of the group in achieving a major title victory. “When I won my first Euros I remember the feeling, it was such a breakthrough for us,” she recalled. She added, “The girls haven’t won a Euros so I would love to be part of them having that feeling at the same time.”
