A woman marked her 102nd birthday, receiving 179 cards, along with phone calls from various international locations and a visit from her town’s mayor. Winnie Goode’s family and friends organized a party for her on Tuesday at Summerdyne Nursing Home in Bewdley. Ms. Goode attributed her longevity to a combination of healthy eating, social engagement, and maintaining happiness. “Don’t think about age. Just carry on,” she stated in an interview with BBC Hereford & Worcester. Among the family members present at the celebration was Ms. Goode’s son, Chris. Additionally, she received telephone calls from her grandchildren residing in New Zealand, Canada, and Dubai. She remarked, “I always say to my family: ‘Just keep in touch.’” “It’s nice to see that they still think about you, even though they’re a long way away,” she added. Ian Latimer, the mayor of Bewdley, was present at the gathering and gave Ms. Goode a bouquet of flowers. Her son, Chris, expressed gratitude for his “fantastic mum” and pride in her accomplishments. He commented, “She’s looked after dad, she’s looked after us, she’s done a fantastic job. She’s always been on top of the game.” Information on BBC Hereford & Worcester is available on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
