The complete schedule for the 2025 Wolverhampton Literature Festival has been made public. This ninth yearly festival is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 2, utilizing various locations throughout the city. Chris Burden, who serves as the council’s cabinet member overseeing city development, jobs, and skills, commented that the event promises to be “a weekend of creativity, discovery, and connection.” On the opening day, comedian and actor Al Murray is slated to appear, presenting his book Arnhem: Black Tuesday at the city’s art gallery, where he will delve into the renowned World War Two battle. Concurrently, Rick Buckler, previously the drummer for The Jam, is set to be at the Robin 2 to recount experiences from his musical journey. February 1 will feature Nigerian author Abi Daré at the art gallery, where she will discuss her second novel, And So I Roar. Following her will be journalist and presenter Ashley John-Baptiste, who will share his personal account of his upbringing within the British care system. The festival’s concluding day will feature crime author Mark Billingham discussing his latest book, alongside comedian Shappi Khorsandi, who will perform her show Scatter Brain, which offers a reflection on living with ADHD. Additionally, actor and author Jassa Ahluwalia, Wolverhampton comedian Rob Manuel, and various poets and performers are scheduled to make appearances.
